A Tag on Their Urn. A Lifetime of Memories.
Most of us have a photo somewhere — on a phone, on a shelf — of a pet we still think about. Maybe it's been years. Maybe it was recent. Either way, you know the one.
Pets are woven into the fabric of our lives in a way that's hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it. They're there for the quiet mornings and the hard nights. They know our routines better than we do. And when they're gone, the silence they leave is surprisingly loud.
We built PetLegacy because we felt that silence — and because we believe the animals who fill our lives deserve something more lasting than a folder of photos on a phone that gets lost in an upgrade.
How PetLegacy Works
A 40mm NFC memorial tag — the same tap technology as PayWave — sits on an urn, a memorial box, or wherever feels right. Anyone who taps it with their phone is taken straight to a private memorial page. No app. No login. No fumbling. Just their face, their story, their photos and videos, right there.
You create the memorial yourself: upload up to 75 photos, embed videos, write something about who they were, and record milestones — their first day home, their favourite walk, the years they were beside you. You can even upload a voice recording — a bark, a purr, a chirp. Small sounds that mean everything to the people who knew them.
Choose from dozens of frame styles and themes to make it feel like theirs. Family and friends anywhere in the world can leave tributes and comments.
Hosting is prepaid — five, ten, or twenty-five years — so it's there not just for you now, but for your family when they visit one day and tap the tag without thinking. That's the moment we're building for.
NFC Collar Tags for Living Pets
PetLegacy also makes NFC collar tags for living pets — because the anxiety of a lost animal is something most pet owners know all too well.
If your dog slips the lead or your cat ventures further than usual, whoever finds them just taps the collar tag and immediately sees your contact details, your pet's name, any medical needs, and your vet's number. No squinting at an engraved tag. No barriers. Just help, instantly.
A Meaningful Gift When You Don't Know What to Say
Grief is awkward. Most of us want to do something for a friend who's just lost a pet, but flowers feel wrong and words don't quite land. A PetLegacy memorial is something they can actually use — something to build, to tend to, to share with everyone who loved their pet.
It can even be purchased as a gift and scheduled to arrive when the time feels right.
Veterinary clinics, pet crematoriums, and pet stores across New Zealand and Australia are beginning to offer PetLegacy as part of their aftercare — because the kindest thing you can offer a grieving family is often something tangible to hold onto.
Plans & Pricing
Tags ship from Auckland, encoded locally before they leave. Plans start at $99 NZD for five years of hosting. The ten-year Legacy plan is $149 — less than $1.50 a month to keep their memory alive and accessible. A twenty-five year Eternal plan is available at $199.
Australian families can find us at petlegacy.au.
It's a small tag. A quiet page. A tap of a phone. But some of the most important things in life are small and quiet.
